Faithfulness is only a portion

God spoke to me this morning, (as my prayers as of lately have been for him to incline my ear to his voice) and he said "faithfulness is only a portion". so, as I brushed my teeth, I began to meditate on those words and really think about what he was telling me and here's what I got: we know that faith without works is dead from James 2:20 but what does that even mean? I have the words "je crois en la foi" tattooed on my back which translates from French to English as "I believe in faith" in which I got it as a reminder to always have faith; regardless of what's going on (which has always been a struggle for me) faith is defined as complete trust in someone or something but the Bible teaches us that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen (Hebrews 11:1) as of lately, I've been saying that "I have faith that God will get me a job. he will see me through because of my faithfulness." in which what is true, but I've come to realize on this day that faith is WORK on my behalf. that I must position myself and create good habits to receive what God has prepared for me. I have to do my part so that God can do his. I feel that often, we get caught up in the miracle of God that we forget that we have to be proactive in our approach to get what God has for us. in all the stories in the Bible, no one waited for God to just do something; they petitioned, they cried out- they showed themselves as vunerable to the will of God for their Life. faithfulness is only a portion, meaning: open your heart, mind and soul to not only TRUST in what God WILL do, but do what you are able to do to receive the blessings that God has for you. having faith but not doing anything is just as good as doing nothing at all. -B♥️
